How many of you beat the path to the seasonal section the day after 'the big day'?
I do. But I'm not usually one of the door standers you see before the store opens. I don't even try to compete with the few ones who sprint to the back of the store & take almost every last pack of Christmas napkins or snowman toilet paper, only to leave a sprinkling of others staring at the empty shelf.
Not my style.
But Sunday, I did saunter into Target after church & although I didn't get the tree I was hoping for, I settled on a couple of 'gifty' type of things.
What did I score?
a mentos explosion kit (which I gave away at a party yesterday)
burt's bees chapstick (which was also given away yesterday as a door prize)
princess nail polish (will go into our 'gift bin')
more princess stuff (ditto)
a snowflake linen tablecloth (which was used at yesterday's party)
matching snowflake napkins (ditto!)
a really cool 4-dip fancy toille/cardinal thin glass thingy (already sat out & put smelling reed thingy with)
SEVERAL peperidge farms/etc holiday cookies (I will keep out what we'll use the next month & throw the rest in the freezer)
tree ornament/balls (I already wrote Tightwad Daddy's players names/numbers on the balls & gave them away yesterday at our soccer party)
These were all 50%. I USED to wait & not buy much until all was 75% off. Now, nothing's left, as there is so much competition out there at the 50 off.
My guess is that in the near future, big box stores won't even start off at 50 off, they'll start at something absurd like 30 off (like some places do); as they know stuff WILL get bought.
What did you get? And what do you do w/ your goodies?

Every year I wake up early on Christmas morning and shop online at yankee candle before the family gets up. I get the tarts I like for the year and lots of small gifts for next year. I always buy snowmen so the recepient can use it in January as well. These make great teacher, daycare, and coworker gifts. I then get up and shop early for the 50% off sales (but am not one who pushes, shoves, or waits in line LOL). I look for cologne for me and dad (I hate how expensive full price cologne is) and bath sets for all the kids (great easter gifts) and holiday partyware and wrapping for the next year. This year Walmart had a huge toy sale and some of the toys the kids want (but parents didn't think they worth the high prices) were 50% off so I finished most of my daughters birthday gifts for March. My family knows this is mommy's day to have fun and do what they want and they stay home and play with all the new toys.
I buy stocking stuffers for next year and small gifts to add to presents for my niece and nephew. I also buy the leapfrog holiday books at 50% off to use with our tag system. I buy things for my classroom (pencils, stickers). I buy seasonal foods that we can't get any other time- peppermint bark, peppermint oreos :)Oh and I also buy tshirts for me and the little one for the next year. - MR
