watch out for oil
I'm thinking that book could be very handy for our vacation in sept. 2011 to flordia!!! Have fun !!
Just got back from Florida...it was beautiful and oil free...have a great time.
So I think the best thing for a Momma to do when going to the beach is to bring a big umbrella for the family to hang out under. (Of course lots of sunscreen too...at least 50spf for my family!) Remember to put it on about every 45 min :)
If you're going to eat out go to a late lunch. They seem to charge you about 30% more for the same thing at dinner.
Keep your eyes out for jellyfish when your'e in the ocean.
Take plenty of things to keep the kids busy in the car on the way down, we like to take the personnal size dvd players and hand held games. Also have a bag of snacks packed and readily available for the kids on the way down, I like to purchase snacky foods from the dollar store, then when you have to stop at all those gas stations along the way and the kids want to go in and buy something you already have something they'd like at a fraction of the cost from what the gas station would be charging! Have a safe and fun trip!
bring a spray bottle of vinegar, regular or cider, to the beach for jelly stings. If you get stung saturate sting with vinegar and the pain will go away in a few minutes. Got that tip from the locals and it WORKED.
I think most Mommas plan ahead for their kids but often neglect what they themselves will need. Make sure you put sunscreen on yourself as well as your kids! I don't know how many times I've forgotten and regretted it. Also, make sure to reapply. Sunscreen is only good for so long and if you go into the water you should definitely reapply. Make sure you take well sealed snacks and plenty of fluids. Water shoes are great to protect little feet if the sand gets too hot. An umbrella is great for shade but can be bulky. And don't forget the sand toys. Stop by the Dollar Store and pick up a bunch of shovels, rakes, buckets, etc. and the kids will be in heaven all day long!
No bedtime on vacation ... it makes the kids happy to hear that and lets be honest they are so pooped that they fall asleep early enough anyway .... have fun!!
Silly me can't think of my password so I'm anonymous ....

My advice would be don't sweat the small stuff!!!:)
If you forgot to pack something you can always buy it along the way.
If you kids get off their daily routine dont sweat it!
Spending quality time with your family is priceless!!!!
Have fun on your vacations!:)

Bring baby powder. Sprinkle on feet when getting back in the car to get sand off easier. We usually bring too many things!!! The kids don't play with the toys we bring...they just want to play in the water!
Enjoy yourself! Relax and cherish every minute of your time away from everyday stresses to love your hubby and kiddos:)
Be sure to take a camera with lots of batteries to capture some great pics, don't forget the sunblock, towels, umbrella and some toys for the kiddos. Also sunglasses are a must as well as plenty of water. Have fun and enjoy your vacation!!

Baby powder is a must for the beach! It is the easiest way to get sand off your body. Get a hugh bottle from the dollar store. Before you grab a snack at the beach pour some in your hands and rub. Also use it before you go inside the condo. I would put it all over the kids legs/arms wherever there was sand.
I don't go to the beach without it. You'll be amazed at how little sand you bring back. Enjoy your vacation!
