I've casually mentioned in my posts that Tighwad Daddy & I are working toward becoming debt-free. We hope that the save lots, spend little mentality trickles down to the Tightwad Tikes. It seems to, as in one of our small groups we attended, we learned from Dave Ramsey the "Save one, Give one, Live on the rest" idea & shared that with our kiddos.

At that time, I was babysitting two babies & my then 4 year old, was a huge help. I began rewarding her with a small payment of $1...in dimes. Why dimes?, so she could divy up tenths -- one back to God, one to save, & the other eight to spend on something she felt she needed.
We start using a dixie cup system. It worked well enough, but wasn't exactly fun or decorative.
So, imagine my delight when I had the chance to try out the MONEY SAVVY PIG. Cute AND uses the same sort of system we'd been doing... only in a sophisticated way.
It's broken into four parts: SAVE, SPEND, DONATE, INVEST. Each part feeds the coins down into one of the pig's feet.

Stickers/decals come with the pig so that you can decorate the pig (color of eyes & stickers to symbolize the words on the four parts).
AND, there are other animals/bank styles. Not just pigs.
My girl has been using it for 4 months now & loves it. She's so excited when she earns a coin of any kind. And now my 4 year old is wanting one as well, so it looks like we'll be getting him one in a different color than hers.
I highly recommend the Money Savvy Pig.

Oooh, I love this! What an awesome idea.
I don't know who thought of that. But what a great thing!
