What Are You Doing This Weekend?

FRIDAY

Storytelling in the Galleries: Fall Sports and Fun. Stories include Turkey Day. 10:30 a.m. (Groups of eight of more children must register: 314-454-3114.) 10:30 a.m. The first 50 children to arrive will receive St. Louis Rams stickers, temporary tattoos and player postcards. Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.

Macy's Holiday Festival of Lights. The Christmas season officially kicks off with this festival at the May Amphitheatre in Kiener Plaza, downtown St. Louis. The magic switch turns on Christmas lights in downtown St. Louis followed by a dazzling fireworks display to light up the night sky. Following the official program, Santa - in a horse-drawn carriage down 7th Street lined with luminaries - will lead a procession from Kiener Plaza to Macy's for photo opportunities, music & of course, entertainment. 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Turkeys for Tots. The symbol of Thanksgiving, the turkey is an interesting bird. I so wish we were closer to take advantage of this one.... to learn about the natural history and physical structure of this unique bird & as if that's not enough, to make a craft to take home. 9:30-10:30 a.m. For ages 3-6. The Magic House offers their Free Family Nights every third Friday of the month. Your family (no more than two adults and four of their own children) gets to enjoy the more than 100 hands-on exhibits in the museum. 5:30-9. The Magic House, 516 S. Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood.

Pattonville's Astronomy Night. Go check out the cosmos with your family! It's cold, so dress in a manner that is appropriate. If it is raining or cloudy, a planetrium program will be presented instead. 6-8 pm. Pattonville Heights Middle School, 195 Fee Fee Rd., Maryland Heights.

SATURDAY

Lowe's Build & Grow Clinic. Learn to build a snowman at this activity for kids. You really should register, it's getting really popular & you could risk missing out! 10-11 am.

Free Botanical Garden Morning. Admission to the Missouri Botanical Garden is FREE every Wednesday and Saturday morning. 9am - Noon, St. Louis City and St. Louis County residents (bring proof of residency) can get into the garden for free all year (except special events).

Downtown Kirkwood Holiday Walk. My Kirkwood friends will be enjoying this fun event...All ages will enjoy Santa Claus and Babaloo. Also, many stores will be offering specials and free refreshments. Children's activities will be held at the train station and all events are in downtown Kirkwood. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Go Monkey Around. At the St. Louis County Library for a special sneak peak at "Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas!" 6:30-8:30 pm. There will be crafts and giveaways, too! Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

Don't forget to eat at a restaurant WHERE KIDS EAT FREE. I have a complete listing of the ones in our area who participate (please tell me of one you know of, if you don't see it on my list!). Now, that's saving some dough!
Also, this weekend, Sam's Club is having it's holiday preview samples. My Tightwad family will be there for sure, making our "rounds" & tasting the goods!
