SHREDFEST. 9 a.m. to noon, Southwest Bank is hosting Shredfest, a series of free events where the public is invited to bring outdated documents to designated branch locations to have them disposed of safely and securely by a commercial shredding company. US Postal Inspectors will be on hand to provide information and education. Limit two boxes or bags per person or company. Botanical Garden FREE MORNING. Admission to the Missouri Botanical Garden is FREE every Wednesday and Saturday morning. From 9am - Noon, St. Louis City and St. Louis County residents (bring proof of residency) can get into the garden for free all year. CAR SEAT SAFETY EVENT.
SSM St. Clare Health Center is hosting a car seat safety event on Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Fenton Fire House, 845 Gregory Lane. Certified car seat safety technicians will offer instruction and free installation following guidelines set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Program is open to all families with young children who require car or booster seats. Expectant parents also are invited to have their car seat installed in advance of their new arrival. St. Louis Community College-Meramec hosts the 11th Annual Meramec Children’s Festival on Saturday, April 18, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the Student Center Quad on the Meramec campus, 11333 Big Bend Road in Kirkwood. KIDS CLOTHING SWAP.
Christ Community Church, 5293 S. Lindbergh at Baptist Church Road, will hold a Kids Clothing Swap on Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants should bring clean children's clothing (sizes newborn through juniors), in good condition with no rips, tears, visible stains, etc. There are no minimum requirements on how many items to bring or how many to take, but be courteous and generous. GRANTS FARM OPENS.
Grant’s Farm, located at Gravois and Grant roads, opens its 55th season with several new attractions to thrill guests of all ages, Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19. A brightly-colored, carousel featuring various “animals” for children to ride is now located in the Tier Garten. Also new is “Elephant Encounter,” which allows guests to tour the elephant facilities and meet an African elephant up close and personal. The carousel ride is $2 per person and tickets for the “Elephant Encounter” are available before the 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. elephant shows at $5 per person. During the spring schedule: April 18 to May 3, Grant's Farm will operate 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sundays.
