What Are You Doing This Weekend? pt 11

This is the part of my website where I tell you about fun things you can do with your family for the weekend...either free or cheap. There is obviously more here than the average family could do, this is so you can have several options. I also tried hard to find activities that are for different age groups, in different parts of St. Louis.

Don't forget...while you are out & about & stopping for lunch, be sure to patronize a restaurant that practices KIDS EAT FREE! (button always on my sidebar too!)

Happy Weekending!

SATURDAY

Pere Marquette Bald Eagle Days. 8:30 am. Scott Isringhausen, site interpreter at Pere Marquette State Park, hosts an informtive program all about bald eagles. Visitors can learn to distinguish between immature and mature bald eagles, what eagles eat and why they spend winter months in the area and then take an observational drive to view live wintering bald eagles. Participants must register in advance. (618) 786-3323. http://www.greatriverroad.com/Pere/eventsPere.htm

Lowe's. Build & Grow Clinic. 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. You guys know this is our family's favorite weekend activity. Make a racecar (it looks REALLY cool) at this BGC. Visit the Lowe's website for area locations and to register (don't show up without registering, they've grown too popular for that, they only have enough for the registered kiddos).

Botanical Free Morning. Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Boulevard, St. Louis 9:00 a.m. - Noon. Admission to the Missouri Botanical Garden is FREE every Wednesday and Saturday morning. From 9am - Noon, St. Louis City and St. Louis County residents (bring proof of residency) can get into the garden for free.

Storytelling in the Galleries.
The Missouri History Museum presents "Storytelling in the Galleries."
Each week has a different theme and includes crafts or other activities for kids. Ages 10 and under. 1-2 pm.

Maple Sugar Festival. 10 am- 2 pm. Rockwoods Resevation turns into a sappy woodland factory during a festival that features demos and hands-on activities related to tree tapping and the creation of yummy maple syrup. In case of extreme weather, the event is cancelled. No reservations are required. All ages. http://www.mdc.mo.gov/cgi-bin/mdcdevpub/apps/events/showevent.cgi?record=173764
