What Are You Doing This Weekend? (Take Two)

Last week, I gave you a weekend's worth of free (or almost free) things to do with your family.

I got a great response & want to give you some ideas for this weekend as well...

December's free Friday family night is this Friday (as well as the first weekend they are open, December 20th and 21st, target has sponsored a free family night weekend at the Magic House ...so from 5:30pm to 9pm, families can get into the museum for free!!)
So start your weekend off with a little magic!

Saturday morning, go take in a flick at Wehrenberg's holiday flicks & check out Santa Clause (purposely spelled with the E!)

After your free movie, go get some lunch! But check first, for restaurants on my KIDS EAT FREE list (please let us know if you have any to add!).

I've been wanting to check out Santa Vs The Snowman again this year. We went last year but both kids fell asleep (nap time!). Hubby & I thoroughly enjoyed it, like everything else we see at the Omnimax. Use this coupon for $2 off!
If you ARE headed to SLSC, make sure you sign up for the Kids Club & take your coupon along for your free stuff!

While you're in the city, why not see the Holiday Decoration Display at the Old Courthouse. The Old Courthouse is decked in holiday decor, just as it was during the Victorian Era. A 25-foot Christmas tree and other period decorations set the stage for free concerts throughout the season; museum galleries depict holiday celebrations during the city's history. Call first!: 314.655.1700.

Next, unless you're headed home for a nap (which isn't a bad idea for parents!), head down to have a sit on the Bass Pro Santa's lap. Enjoy some family activities there as well.

Tuckered out yet? You should be, but in case you aren't, why don't you go check out some light displays (check locations for costs):
  • More than 2.5 million lights captivate crowds at Rock Spring Park during Christmas Wonderland, a month-long display that also features lighted tunnels, photo ops with Santa in the Enchanted Forest (bring your own camera!), carriage rides, and a nightly petting zoo. http://www.chr... dofaltonil.net
  • More than 80,000 lights don the building and surrounding landscape of the nation's largest brewery. Light-tour lovers can drive or stroll on Broadway, Lynch, Arsenal, and 12th to admire the spectacular sparkle of the Christmas spirit. 314.577.2000 http://www.anheuser-busch.com
  • O'Fallon's annual Celebration of Lights is a mile-long, drive-through holiday light display, featuring individual scenes that are designed and funded by local organizations, churches, and businesses. Train rides and private horse-drawn carriage rides can be scheduled in advance. Revelers who would rather walk through the display are invited to attend a special Walk-through Night on December 9. Attendees can get $1 off any regular admission with a canned food or new toy donation (not valid on Tuesdays or Walk-Through Night). Complete information is available online. 636.379.5614 http://www.ofallon.mo.us
  • Yogi's Jellystone Resort is bright with Christmas cheer thanks to two million shimmering lights, state-of-the-art custom lighting animation, Santa Express train rides, and the whimsical Christmas Fantasy Land. 636.938.5925 http://www.san... calkingdom.com
  • A swath of magical lights leads visitors through the Zoo and into the Emerson Children's Zoo, where thousands of twinkling lights and animal light sculptures greet them. Special animal shows, keeper chats, storytelling, and the new Gingerbread Village complete the festivities. Note: The event is held Fri-Sun only between Nov 21-Dec 14 and is held nightly thereafter until Dec 28.Childs@stlzoo.org 314.781.0900 Childs@stlzoo.org http://www.stlzoo.org

Sundays, I always recommend church, it's free! (& family-oriented!) But if you're interested in the free holiday movie, Wehrenberg's free flick is Sunday @ 10 as well!

Don't forget about ABCfamily's 25 Days of Christmas. It's a great way to wrap up a weekend!

Happy Family Field Trips!!

Because Time is Money

and a stitch in time saves nine...or however the saying goes.

I don't know about you, but I am busy. And my mind is so full of important things crazy junk, even a quick trip to Walmart leaves me going, 'uh, uh...'.

Usually, my list is comprised of things that will be free or very very cheap after a coupon, but some trips to walmart are comprised of my hubby saying, "need anything from walmart?" to which I know a quick list is in order.

Rather than walking around the kitchen, scratching my head, peering into the fridge (in hopes of answers); only to have him leave for the store & me remember toilet paper, I have decided to have a standing list for each particular store.

Have TP & gatorade as your stand-bys for Rite Aid? But don't need them for this particular run to the store? No biggie, just scratch it out. Or better yet, only highlight the items on your list that you need your maid husband to grab.

I've shared my Walmart list with you. I don't always get my produce there, as I'm not happy with theirs (& Aldi's is SO much cheaper).... but no biggie, just scratch it out!

Tadalists is a free service. You can make a list of any kind. And let me tell you, I am a very listy girl (not to be confused with lUsty). Lists for what needs to be done today. What I need to finish by the weekend. What needs to go on vacay. I even write lists for my kids (sometimes complete w/ pictures). Heck, you could even write your bucket list at tada!
And tada lets you go wild. You just register & list away!

Happy Listing!

Fun Santa Stuff

Christmas Dialer – Get one free phone call from Santa. Have your kiddo nearby when you call, because we received our phone within about 10 seconds.

NORAD Tracks Santa – We do this every year (before we had kids, we would find this site for our nephew). You can follow Santa’s progress across the globe as he makes his deliveries of toys. It’s also a great tool to get your kids to go to bed when he starts making his way to North America!

Letter From Santa - This is the free letter from Santa we use every year. There are probably more out there, but since we've used this one, it's fine, & we know we aren't going to be asked to give a c/c or donation, we'll stick with it. It also gives you a few options for your nice little girl &/or boy.

Gravois Bluffs' new theater.

Word is, the theater is showing oldish movies tonight (wed.) & tomorrow night (thurs.) for only a buck.

Another word is that popcorn is free all month. I've sent an email to the GM to confirm this.

Do you ever go down Walmart's clearance aisle? Usually (unless it's a run in/run out trip), we make it down that aisle, just to be sure there's nothing to miss out on. About 1 out of 4 times, I will find a great deal... sometimes even a big ticket / electronic item that is 75% off. We've seen tents, blow up beds, game systems, etc. It's worth a stroll down the aisle. (in more ways than one!)

Cyber Monday II

I personally just took advantage of this to finish some Christmas shopping for my hubby.

I fully recommend you going through ebates. I not only got $80 worth of stuff for only $40 but am also getting an additional 6% back (which covered the tax!) AND didn't have to pay shipping.
Not only that, but I got $5 for opening an account. And if you click on ebates you will get $5 too!

When you go to ebates, you will most likely find your store of choice AND, AND, AND lots of codes for that store (say buy one get one half.... free shipping.... 20% off, etc.).
