Double Up (edited!)

This morning I went to www.kmart.com to check out their coupon policy. A pleasant surprise was seeing that there is a email club you can join. Within hours, I had a $5 off $50 coupon in my inbox. I printed it out & will take it with me to Kmart when I go cash in on the double coupon special!
Kmart has only 2 days remaining in their DOUBLE COUPON special. The catch is that it must be $2 & under.

And be sure to monitor the transaction... the last time around there were a few of the items that didn't double, so I had to go back to the store & get the difference.

Mr Shelf

I know my garage sales. And one thing I do know is that different areas of St Louis, will yield you different 'finds'. Older parts will score you older things (thank you Captain Obvious). Newer yuppier parts sell newer clothes, newer trinkets.

I'm not likely to score big (in the town I'm currently living in) when it comes to outfits for my kids (altho sometimes I do!) -- if that's what I'm looking for, I'd most likely head to West County.

But here in my town, 20 miles south of the city, there's a potpourri of finds.
Like this little number...
Thank you wonderful shelf.
But I gotta tell ya, when I found Mr Shelf, he looked a lot different than this. For starters, he was blue (& I don't mean sad). His brackets were hung so that I knew he was more of a horizontal hottie.

The first thing I did was knock out one of the "internal wall" (for lack of a better term). I wanted to get rid of the symmetry. I also wanted to go tall (like me!). So I banged newer brackets in at the ends to make Mr Shelf an "up & down" number.

My next order of biz was the color. I took the "bitter green" paint, which has went SO far for our family. Bitter green was first used for our basement walls, then our cabinet (which will make its debut next), then other accessories (such as this great shelf) for our first baby's nursery.

And now that we no longer have babies (yet instead, toddlerhood & preschoolhood rule our lives) we don't need a shelf for a nursery (as the nursery no longer exists). And Mr Shelf was promoted, to the KITCHEN.

And goodbye went the chunky board books & choo-choos.
And hello to antique porcelain quails (25 cents at garage sale).

And plastic retro metal-handled mugs (a nickel, I'm not even joking).
price of old blue boring shelf, $1.00
paint, $0.00 (free, leftover from basement)
bracket, $.50
voila!: $1.50 awesome one-of-a-kind shelf

Gotta Love Walgreens, My Loot (edited to include zyrtec coupon link!)

my loot from the weekend

Here's what I did...(not that it will help you now, but it might help for next time)

Go here, specifically to page 4. There is a $1.50 off Colgate coupon. I used that + the in store coupon (1.50 off). That makes the toothpaste (after the 2.99 sale) free.

Intuition razers were on sale for 3.99. There was an in-store coupon for 3.00 off. That made them 99 cents (plus tax). I would've gotten more, but the girls in front of me, knew what they were doing & took EVERY SINGLE ONE off the shelf (save for the one I found in the wrong spot).

Now for the deals for today...

There is a coupon, for today & tomorrow only:
Go to my sidebar, click on coupons.com button & it will take you to the printable coupons...you will find walgreen's coupon there.

What did I buy w/ mine?
Go here for a GLADE starter kit b.o.go. x2
Wags price 3.99. You'll get 2 for that price (when you use the coupon), then open one up & there is $3 off your next purchase (use it on another & pay only 99 cents for it!).

I was thrilled to see Walgreens carries WARM mist vaporizers/humidifiers (I have had a hard time finding them) & they're 10.99 after rebate (cheapest around I think).

Wags brand ziplocs, 1.99

zyrtec for my allergy girl, 9.99 (minus a $2 manufacturers coupon) (go here to get yours)
my $5 off $25 coupon (print from my side bar!)

plus tax

voila! $28.85 for all that (& remember, it'll be $5 less once I get my rebates back!!)

my 2nd purchase (you didn't think I'd let a 2nd coupon go to waste, did you?!...)
marie calenders 2/$5 x 4 (our dinner!)
degree deodorant 2/$5 (minus a $1 coupon)
softsoap 99 cents
glad trashbags 5.99 sale
bic soleil rzrs 3.99 sale (minus a $3 manuf. coupon)
cascade 15 ct 3.50 sale
all detergent 1.79 after in store coupon x 2
flameless tea lights (perfect for preschool fingers!) $5 for a six pack (cheaper than the ones they're featuring for sale!)

after my $5 off 25.00 purchase coupon, I only spent $29 (w/ tax!!)!

Just a Few Hours Left to Enter!

Have you entered the contest for Little Women?

Another Free Santa

Santa at the Old Log Cabin
Get your picture taken with the big guy himself on Saturday (Dec 6)

Weird Science

Last winter, we must've went to the St.Louis Science Center at least five times. I don't know what is better, the free admission, the life-like dinosaur that my kids love to hate, or the fun 'discovery room', where your time allowed seems to FLY by.

Parking on the "new" side of SLSC costs $8...but park on the other side of the highway (in Forest Park) & park for free (at least the last time we parked there, in the spring).

There are multi-levels & a morning or afternoon spent there won't even show you all the exhibits!
Check out the Science Center's new KIDS CLUB. It's FREE to sign-up and you get great stuff, like a backpack, plus giveaways and discounts, including meals, ice cream, tickets and more from places like Six Flags St. Louis, the Gateway Grizzlies, Eckert's, The Pasta House Co., Krispy Kreme, the OMNIMAX Theater, the ExploreStore, and Build-A-Dino at the Science Center. Plus, you'll receive e-mails withcoupons and special KIDS CLUB information and invitations to St. Louis Kids Magazine Kids Fest other KIDS CLUB events.

Have You Entered the Contest?

...because it ends tomorrow!

Go here for more info & to get your entry in before it's too late!

Free Bees

Share the love & get a free magic eraser.

Join Arby's club & get a free shake.

Print out this coupon for $1 off Rayovac batteries. Last I checked, these were at the 'dollar spot' at Target. If that's the case, you'll only be paying tax.

Get your free sample of Pantene.

Get a free sample of Bertolli's premium sauce.

Thanks Costco for a free diaper sample. (I love diaper samples, they're in their own package, perfect to stick in the car for emergencies -- & w/ it having its own packaging, it doesn't get car 'yuck' on it!) Also, it asks for your COSTCO member ID, but it's not a required field.

Free Kotex sample, thanks Walmart! (again, so perfect for the glove box, just 'in case'!)

Sample the new scent of GAIN! These are great to sit in your laundry room. I have before, run out of detergent (between stock ups) & had my bacon saved by a sample!

Thanks Walmart, for the Always sample!

Boy, this post has gone feminine product! Stop leaks before they happen! Walmart, again.

Some of my freebie (or free bee) tips!...

1. establish a "spam email address"
I did this years ago. I chose yahoo (it's free), but other options include hotmail, gmail, etc.

2. alter your cookies, your java, or whatever, so that "fields" (blanks) have an auto-fill. I don't know the computer terms for this -- all I know is that when our computer was fixed (post virus) it had this all of a sudden. I think you can get this option on google. but it's a major times saver! it fills in blanks for you (w/ info you previously used for that particular blank) for forms.

3. organize your samples as they come in. I keep a cosmetic bag (there are actually THREE of them) that I throw trial sizes in (of shampoo, soap, shave gel, etc.). Then, when we're headed on a trip, it's already ready to go. Also consider the girl scout's april showers, shelters, churches, mission trips, etc.
